To really think through the concepts of variable length records and multiple-record files.
Read Uckan Chapter 2.
Do Programming Exercise #2. As described, come up with at least 3 designs with various combinations of:
- fixed-length and variable-length records
- single-record and multiple-record files
- one or two files
If you do more than 3 designs, you will get extra credit.
Be sure to describe the advantages and disadvantages of each design.
Note: there is no programming for this assignment. It is a pencil & paper exercise. Also, you do not need to draw the actual internal blocks, as we did in class.
